Anti-Reflective Coating

Anti-Reflective Coating, known as AR, is a coating applied to lenses to reduce glare and reflections. Following are a few of the many situations where AR coating enhances your vision:

  • Night Driving--Reduces glare from head lights, tail lights, and stop lights.
  • Computer Use--Reduces glare from the computer screen, overhead lights, window glare.
  • Cosmetic Enhancement--Reduces glare that others see from your lenses when they look at you. Instead of seeing your lenses and the glare from them, they see your eyes more clearly.

Everyone can benefit from AR coated lenses:

  • Public Speakers
  • Those who drive a lot at night, dusk, or dawn
  • Heavy Computer Users
  • Children
  • Adults with Cataracts
  • While watching TV
  • Working under Fluorescent Lights all day
  • While playing video games

We offer two levels of AR coatings to our patients:

  • Standard AR-- Provides basic Anti-glare protection.
  • Premium AR-- In addition to prividing anti-glare protection, it also has an extra layer of scratch coating and a top hydrophobic layer to resist smears and smudges.

We recommend Teflon Anti-reflective Coating.
